Korean men driven to the wall

The second semifinal of this afternoon will see the European and Asian continents face each other, as Ukraine and Korea both progressed to the final stage of the Olympic Men’s Team event.

The Ukrainians, Dmytro Hrachov, Viktor Ruban and Oleksandr Serdyuk, qualified for the semifinals after a victory over Japan led by their 41-year old new Olympic Silver medalist Hiroshi Yamamoto. The Japanese never recovered from their very first arrow that hit the 4 ring (!) and finally acknowledged a 242-236 defeat.

In one of this morning’s most exciting match, the Netherlands have been very close by to create a huge feat. They have indeed driven the favourite Koreans to the wall in a match that the latter finally won 250-249.

For its part, will Korea be able to resist to the Gold? Question to be answered this afternoon.
