Japanese students can be proud of their teacher

As a whole bunch of dressed-in-orange people from the Netherlands had come and coloured the historic stadium to support experienced 41-year old Hiroshi Yamamoto. The Japanese archer pleased them and all his students back in Japan by winning his 1/8 round with Ukrainian Oleksandr Serdyuk. "I am a teacher (physical education) in my country and I am sure that my students will be very happy with my success", he said right after his victory.

Thanks to a perfect start with 58 points out of a possible 60, Yamamoto could well manage his match to clinch it on an eight-point lead 168-160. "It was a surprise for me to win this match. I was feeling confident and I wanted to stay focused and be cool. I wanted to do my best and during the game I was watching only my score and not my opponent’s arrows", he commented.
